Blizzard and SWTOR

No, nothing more here than a good luck wish. Blizzard mentioned that they think it is a strong franchise and hope it brings more players into the MMO genre. If the beta signups are any indication, people are excited about the game. 1.5 million have already signed up! The comments weren't as kind from the other side however, with Gibeau, president of EA, saying "When I play World of Warcraft, you go and get your quests, and you go and do your quests, but it feels more like doing a shopping list at times. [Our game] is more about talking to characters, learning what's going on, investing in it, getting emotionally attached to it. You can still go in accessible ways and grind out quests if you want, but at the same time there's a higher-level story that's carrying you through The Old Republic." No doubt SWTOR will have some strong lore, but it remains to be seen how it will compare to the strong WoW lore.

Gameloft

WoW showed up elsewhere this week, in a new MMO that Gameloft is making for the Iphone and Ipad. They are best known for taking inspiration from elsewhere, and it shows in their short preview.

Rogers

If your ISP is Rogers, you likely already know that they appear to be throttling your World of Warcraft bandwidth because of a misclassified rule. This has been an ongoing issue for some time now, but there may be light at the end of the tunnel. Keep tabs on the thread on the official forums for more updates on this.

Power Word: Fortitude

The week wouldn't be complete without an amusing image from Reddit!

The Daily Blink

Well, make that an amusing image and another decent comic!
